'The Prelude' was designed as part of Maya Sienna's Duke of Edinburgh project at 14 years old. The prototype was made for Maya's Christmas present in 2023 and sparked the creation of Maya Sienna's Brand.

A fitting tribute to Maya as she embarks on her journey.

First Burn & Melt Pool

Allow your candle to burn long enough on the first use to create a full, even melt pool that reaches the edge of the jar - typically 2 to 4 hours, depending on the candle’s diameter. This prevents tunnelling and sets the stage for smooth, even burns thereafter.

Wick Trimming

Before each lighting, trim the wooden wick to between 3 mm and 6 mm (1/8–1/4 in). This encourages a steady flame, minimises soot, and enhances fragrance release.

Burn Time Management

Ideal burn sessions last 2 to 4 hours. Avoid burning longer than 4 hours to protect the wax and vessel, and never burn a candle down to the very base - leave at least 6 mm of wax in the jar.

Even, Safe Burning

  • Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep away from drafts, pets, children, and flammable materials 
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Wooden Wick Tips

  • Remove any charred wick debris after extinguishing and before relighting - it improves performance and keeps the flame clean.
  • If the flame flickers or struggles, check that the wick is properly trimmed and not buried in wax.

Aftercare & Jar Reuse

When fully extinguished and cooled (< 30 °C), your candle may be reused:

  1. Let the remaining wax solidify.
  2. Pour in hot water, allow cooling, then remove the wax disc.
  3. Wash with warm, soapy water - never use a dishwasher.
  4. Inspect the jar for safety before relighting or refilling, and discard if cracked or chipped
